The Sign of Jonah and Myrrh

God recently took me through a process of refinement and purging where it seemed a fire had consumed everything in my life.  It was as though everything “died” within me, including a particular covenant God had made with me decades ago.   Excruciating pain filled my heart as I knelt before Him, placed my life on the altar, and gave Him permission to take everything from me.  In the early morning hours of October 7, 2017, as I cried out to God in my struggle to understand, He said,

“The sign of Jonah and myrrh.”

I had no understanding of what He was referring to, so prayed all the more earnestly.

It was after three days that God breathed new life into my situation, and yet I still had no clear understanding of the work which He was doing.  So I continued to pray and seek Him as this stirred greatly within my spirit.  Days passed, and the Holy Spirit began to give further understanding.

The Sign of Jonah (or Jonas as sometimes referred to in scripture) was referenced by Jesus when the Pharisees and Sadducees demanded a sign as proof of who he said he was.  Jesus rebuked them, saying they were a wicked and adulterous generation, and that only the sign of the prophet Jonah would be given them.  As Jonah was in the belly of the great fish three days and three nights, so would our Lord Jesus be buried and spend three days and three nights in the belly of the earth.

Next, the Lord began to reveal the significance and purposes of “the sign of myrrh.”

After the death of Jesus, his body was anointed with myrrh and aloes before being placed in the tomb.

The account of Esther pointed to the death of our Lord Jesus.  She assumed the “position of death” by saying, “if I perish, I perish.”  Then for three days and three nights, she and all of Israel fasted and prayed to God for their deliverance.  Esther had been anointed with myrrh for six whole months in her purification process prior to being brought before the king!

Myrrh was also used in the anointing oil for the tabernacle, and poured upon all objects and the priests who ministered within it!

Primary uses for myrrh include: perfume; anointing oil; purification; and embalming.

God is revealing that we must all come to the point of complete faith and total surrender to Him.  We have to allow the Lord to lead us to our own “garden” to die to everything that is of our flesh (see ‘The Garden and The Agony’).  In this process, He will anoint us with myrrh, the bitterness and embalming, if you will, so that we can also be anointed and purified in preparation to receive His fullness, His glory, and the ‘Power of His Love!’

Note from Diana:

It’s interesting William’s “death” experience lasted 3 days before life was breathed back into it.  When inquiring of the Lord about what was happening, he was told “The Sign of Jonah and myrrh.”

The Lord told me on November 10th,

“Each of Mine will go through the Garden.”

I believe what is being shown here is, just as Jesus was led to the Garden of Gethsemane to completely surrender his WILL to the Father, so must the Bride of Christ allow herself to be led to her own Garden.  So must we surrender our WILL, with all the earthly desires of our flesh, to a spiritual crucifixion.

Just as the body of Jesus was anointed with myrrh for cleansing, purification, and in preparation to be brought before the Father; so does myrrh symbolize the purification process of the Bride as she dies to self.  She will be cleansed and purified in preparation of her ultimate union with the Bridegroom.

As Jesus was buried in darkness for three days and three nights, I believe the Lord is showing His Bride, after allowing her flesh to be crucified during her garden experience, will also be “hidden away” for such a time.

During this “hidden away” time, she will be cleansed, purified, and made ready to walk in His Fullness!

In closing, I’d like to quote from an excerpt from ‘Power of His Love!’

“The next time I will display My power, it will be to “raise” the Body of Christ, to prepare Her to be joined with the Risen Son!”

“I believe just as His Perfect Love literally exploded life into the cells of His Son in the tomb, soon every cell in our bodies will awaken and explode with His Life!

“The last time God poured out His Perfect love, He raised His Son!  This time, He is going to raise up the very Body of Christ, the Bride!!!”

To Be Continued…

God willing, ‘From Eden to Gethsemane’ will be posted within the next few days.

Matt. 12:39-40, “But he answered them and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah: For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”

    Victoria,
Yes! total surrender. It is going to be all about faith ONLY. This has to be God completely working through us, through a heart of obedience and complete surrender of our will and all we think we know! Then how glorious it will be to have God pour out upon us to prepare for our coming Bridegroom!

Praise God! There have been so many messages the past few weeks about the coming 3 days of darkness, and the transformation of His Bride! Come Lord Jesus! Shalom.

    Katherine,
This is coming so strong in my spirit now. Jesus said the Holy Spirit would lead us into all truth and show us things to come, and I thing that is what we see happening right now! Months ago, the Lord gave me a couple of dreams/visions that I believe showed the transformation taking place. Here’s the link:

    Katherine,
Yes, this is the work of the Father to woo us to prepare for the coming Bridegroom!! That time of transformation is to purify our spirit and to crucify the flesh in order to receive His Love being poured out upon us! We are to bear witness of our Betrothed in every way as we are married to Him in the eyes of the Father! And so, as we await for our King and our Beloved, we shall see God do such a work as we continue to yield to His work in us.

But what of His bride – what is she to be doing? During this one year period – the bride would consecrate herself – and prepare holy garments for the upcoming marriage. Paul puts this preparation in very clear terms – (Eph 5:25-27). The bridegroom is making preparations to return for His bride – we need to ask ourselves are we as His betrothed keeping our garments clean? Are we arrayed in our bridal attire, and keeping our ketubah hbtk – covenant promises and vows?

Merriam Webster dictionary defines concrate as dedicated to a sacred purpose, consecration is the action of this. It is also being set apart for sacred purpose, to be holy.

Leviticus 11:44-45 and 1 Peter 1:15-16 state to be Holy as God is Holy

We need to be the Bride and do what the Bride is supposed to do and focus on our Husband and preparing ourself for Him.

Praise God for both you and Diana brother William. I hope that those who visit the site are going back to the beginning of the year and seeing the reocurring theme through all of the words and instruction you guys have received from the LORD and that we must separate ourselves from this life and this flesh and make ourselves ready to be His Bride.

See also Galatians 2:20 and Matthew 25:1-13

Thank you for sharing this beautiful word brother! God bless you and Diana!

    Frank,
Yes, when I was in prayer a few months ago, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Consecrate Yourself Unto Me!” I had never thought of doing that and wasn’t sure what the Lord wanted me to do. But then I was told to get the anointing oil. So I bowed on my knees before Him, anointed my head with the oil, and dedicated myself to the Lord Jesus – for whatever He wished to do with my life.

The process of preparing ourselves for our Bridegroom is a constant dying to self, which is the hardest part. The crucifixion of the flesh is a daily process, one of total submission of our will to His. God bless you brother for your faithfulness to study the Word and the encouragement of others!

  9. William Thompson Says:

    Frank,
Thank you for your encouraging words. God is so very gracious! What He has been revealing to us is that there is so much more set before us than we can imagine. Praise God we are to prepare for our coming Bridegroom, but it will not end there! Our glorious King and Betrothed shall indeed come to receive us, His Bride, but we must be prepared in order to be a part of that. This involves absolute surrender of our will before the Father, just as He did as He is our example. The times of jumping up with our own ideas and then thinking that God is going to bless it are over! It is now time to prepare our bridal attire and be about the Father’s business, waiting expectantly for our coming Beloved!

AMEN to both of you! I also felt the LORD asking me to take communion daily and anoint myself daily back in April of this year. As I anoint myself I declare Galatians 2:20 to Him that I am crucified to this life and this felsh and it is no longer me who lives but You, Jesus who lives in me! Use me for your purpose and glory!

And God has been faithful to preserve this little tiny jar, only a few ounces, of olive oil I use from a shop that makes their own near me. It is maybe a 4 oz bottle and if that level has dropped 1/4 of an inch in these 7 months that is it! Glory to God! Hallelujah!
